The Monroe Family

As Christmas approaches, we would like to introduce you to the Monroe family. The Monroes have 3 of the sweetest little girls - Sarah is almost 2 years old, Megan is 5 years old, and Emily is the oldest at 7.
The girls were a delight! They were very patient as we photographed the family. They then played together with some of our props for a while and we took a few candid portraits.

John and Mary are very blessed to have such a great family!

Congratulations Marines on a GREAT Birthday Party!

We recently had the honor of photographing the Marine Corps Ball for the 2nd year in a row. As you may know, the Marines celebrate the birthday of the Corps each year by holding a formal dress ball!

We love to photograph events, but this one was really special! It was held at the Lansing Center and was attended by over 1400 people. It was obvious that a great time was had by all! We sincerely appreciate the service these Marines have provided to our country in this time of war.

I should also mention that we like to support all branches of the service and offer a free portrait to any service man or woman who would like a nice picture of themselves. The way it works is that the service member comes in for a free session, then simply picks their favorite portrait. We provide a free 8x10 as our thank you for their service. This offer is open to all members of the military - active, reserve, no longer active, and retired. Give us a call if you know someone who might like to have a portrait made.

Winter is Here

I guess we might as well accept it.... winter is really here. The snow yesterday was so beautiful! Here are a few shots we took on and around the property. It's nice not to have to go far.

Barn in Winter

Winter Wonderland

This shot was taken looking out our front door. Our kitten Flash was helping with the photography. As I walked around the yard in ankle deep snow, Flash followed me jumping from boot print to boot print! He lasted as long as I did!

All this snow got me thinking about the Grabarczyk family and some of the pictures we took this summer at their home and later with their kids and the family hot rod.

The entire family loves this car - but the kids are nuts about it!

This shot was taken on a very hot day in the shade of a very beautiful walkway. All the landscaping was done by Rececca (mom to 2 of the kids).

This portrait was taken at sunset on the fence around the family's horse paddock. It really just sort of happened! As I was setting up, the kids were playing and lined themselves up on the fence. I love the way this turned out to almost be a candid shot!

Here is the link if you would like to see more of these portraits Grabarczyk Kids

Anyway, I guess it is time to go shovel the driveway. Hope you enjoyed this splash of summer!

Fine Art Wall Prints

We are very excited about beginning to offer fine art wall prints based on our travel and landscape photography. It has been a lot of fun to go back into some of our favorite photographs from the past and work them into something cool! So far, we have concentrated a lot on Mackinac Island which is one of our favorite places. Below are a few of our favorites!

Round Island Lighthouse
Mackinac Island, Michigan

This picture is of the Round Island lighthouse, right as you enter the harbor at Mackinac Island. It was taken from the ferry as we sped by!

Sugarloaf
Mackinac Island, Michigan

This picture of Sugarloaf was taken at the peak of fall colors. I can't believe how rich and beautiful the colors turned out. Sugarloaf is the big limestone formation on the right side of the picture. Click here to learn more http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar_Loaf_(Mackinac_Island)

Mackinac Duty
Mackinac Island, Michigan

This is a picture of some of the scouts that make up the Governor's Honor Guard. Selected troups of boy scouts and girl scouts alternate weekly. Scouts raise and lower all of the flags in the city and in Fort Mackinac, serve as guides, and complete service projects during their stay. This photograph was taken during the flag raising ceremony at their barracks at the start of their stay. You can find out more about the Honor Guard program at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mackinac_Island#Honor_Scouts

Couple on Beach
Caribbean
This portrait of a young couple walking down the beach was taken somewhere in the Caribbean while we were on a cruise. Wow! We ended up so spoiled after a week of sun and fun. It was hard returning to real life!
We will be working hard over the next few weeks to create more art prints, so check back often. You can see more by clicking on the link at the top of this entry. Please let us know if you have any requests!

Congratulations Haslett Choirs!

We recently had the pleasure of photographing Haslett High School's choir groups for their annual program.

The day of photography was a lot of fun! It was great seeing so many of the kids we have known for years looking fine. As you may know, Haslett choirs are among the best in the state and we expect another great year for the program!

You can see more pictures of the choirs at Haslett Choir Groups

Go Haslett!
